  9. <p>The unit was established with the A-26 as the 47th Bombardment Wing (Light) at Biggs AFB, TX in July 1947. The unit moved to Barksdale AFB in November 1948 and inactivated in October 1949 before reactivating at Langley AFB in March 1951. It moved to RAF Sculthorpe, UK with USAFE in June 1952 and was redesignated 47th BW (Tactical) in October 1955. The B-45, RB-45 and B-66 were operated, plus the KB-50J tanker before the wing deactivated in June 1962. The unit was redesignated 47th Flying Training Wing with ATC and was activated in September 1972, replacing the 3646th PTW at Laughlin AFB.
